The Patrol Services Division is led by Commander Bryan Roberts. Commander Roberts is supported by four lieutenants and nine sergeants. The Patrol Services Division is responsible for community-oriented policing that promotes neighborhood-based problem solving, at-risk youth intervention, collaborative partnerships with business, innovative community programs, and superior customer service.
Community Policing
The Citrus Heights Police Department has embraced a policing philosophy designed to promote quality of life within our community by working to find long-term solutions to problems. Our community policing efforts are led by Lieutenant Jeff Mackanin and include at least one patrol officer assigned each of the 11 Neighborhood Associations within Citrus Heights. See which officers are responsible for your neighborhood with our Community Officer Directory.
Traffic Enforcement
The Patrol Services Division includes a dedicated Traffic Unit staffed by one sergeant and eight officers. This unit and a large portion of the Patrol Services Unit's time is spent in traffic enforcement in an effort to reduce collisions and the resulting impact (injuries & fatalities) in our community. Locations of recent accident and citizen complaints are targeted for enforcement. In addition to speed enforcement, patrol officers are on the lookout for other traffic violators, such as stop sign/stop light violators, general operation violators, improper registrations and/or driver's license, and seat belt violators.
Patrol Services Unit
The Patrol Services Unit provides full service to the community of Citrus Heights 24 hours a day. Police services can be summoned through our state-of-the-art Communications Center by dialing 9-1-1 or (916) 726-3015 for emergencies and (916) 727-5500 for non-emergencies.
Accident Investigation
The Patrol Services Division is responsible for the investigation of traffic accidents that occur throughout the city. The Traffic Unit is staffed by officers with specialized training and experience who are responsible for investigating and reconstructing the most serious collisions in Citrus Heights.
Criminal Investigation
The Patrol Services Division investigates thousands of cases each year. These cases include simple misdemeanors to felonies and everything in between. Thefts, assaults, suspicious activity, prowlers, burglaries, and vandalisms are just a few of the types of cases routinely investigated by officers of the Patrol Services Division.
Service Calls
There is much more to patrol officer's duties then enforcing traffic laws or investigating crimes. The CHPD Patrol Services Division's staff focuses on full customer service. A few examples to highlight this would include officers attending neighborhood association meetings, helping a motorist whose car has broken down on the street, or doing foot patrol through Sunrise Mall.
Response Time
The Patrol Services Division has customer service in mind when it comes to responding to our citizens' needs. People needing emergency service need it quickly; CHPD strives to arrive at life threatening emergencies within four minutes. Our non-emergency customers also deserve timely service. We strive to reach these kinds of calls for service within 11 minutes.
K-9 Unit
The Citrus Heights Police Department Canine Unit was created to help the department with its primary function, the preservation of life and property. The Canine Unit assists in achieving this goal by promoting an atmosphere of service and safety in the community, utilizing canines in general and specialized patrol to enhance crime prevention, crime suppression, criminal investigation, and police officer/citizen protection.
Bicycle Patrol Unit
Citrus Heights Police Department is committed to providing the highest level of service to the citizens of Citrus Heights. This commitment is a major part of our community policing philosophy. As an addition to the Citrus Heights Police Department Patrol Services Division, Citrus Heights citizens will soon see officers on bicycles.
