In December 2001, the City Council established the History and Arts Commission to assist the city in the preservation and protection of the city's historical resources and to develop and promote cultural arts within the city.
The Commission encourages the public to participate in the preservation of our history and cultural arts programs and always welcomes new ideas. If you have an idea, please call (916) 725-2448 or email historyandarts@citrusheights.net.

Community Center Public Art Project
In October, 2009, the City installed the art piece by Philip Sciortino "Celebrate Citrus Heights" at the new Community Center located on Fountain Square Drive. This is the second piece acquired by the History and Arts Commission and City Council for the City's public art collection.
Art in City Hall Project
The Citrus Heights "Art in City Hall" program was created in May 2003. The "Art in City Hall" program is sponsored by the City of Citrus Heights and the Citrus Heights History and Arts Commission.
The goal of the program is to beautify City Hall, to create community involvement, to promote public art, and to create an opportunity to feature the talent of local artists. Approximately every three months new artists and artwork are selected to display their work. The artwork is display throughout various buildings in the Civic Center Complex including: City Hall, General Services, Council Chambers, and the Chamber of Commerce. The public is invited to view the City's permanent art collection during regular business hours. If you are interested in showing your art please fill out an art perspective, or send an email to historyandarts@citrusheights.net.
