Street Sweeping

Every public street within the city is swept at least once a month during the months of February through April and then again during September through November. During the summer (May through August), streets are swept every other month. In Leaf Drop season, each street is swept twice a month.  This year the Leaf Drop schedule will run from December 2010 through January 2011.The extra sweeps help to keep the streets cleaner during the leaf-drop season, keeping gutters and drains flowing smoothly.

See the map below to determine when your street will be swept each month.  PLEASE NOTE:  In June, July and August 2010, residential street sweeping will be adjusted as follows:

June 2010  No residential street sweeeping; Arterials and collectors will be swept.
July 2010  Streets scheduled for 3rd and 4th week will be swept as regularly scheduled.
August 2010  Streets scheduled for 1st and 2nd week will be swept as regularly scheduled.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your help to keep
Citrus Heights streets clean and free of litter and debris!

Here are a few tips to help get the most from our street sweeping work:
DON'T rake leaves into piles in the street - piles can clog gutters and drains, and may result in flooding during heavy rains. (Piles also become road hazards and cannot be swept by the street sweeper.)
DO
- use your green waste or composting containers for leaf recycling.
DO - keep lawns, driveways, streets and sidewalks clear of leaves.
DO - keep trees and shrubs trimmed so that they do not obstruct the sweeper.
DO - keep basketball hoops out of the street and gutters.

If you want to know when to expect the street sweeper in your neighborhood, see the map below or contact us at (916) 727-4770 or by e-mail. The map below reflects the residential normal season street sweep schedule (February - April and September - November).
